USPS 'Celebrate Scouting' Stamp to be Available July 27th...and Scouts Celebrate our Troops and Veterans The U.S. Postal service has given a 'stamp of approval' to honor the Boy Scouts of America's 100th Anniversary. The stamp, to be available on July 27th and unveiled during a ceremony at the 2010 National Scout Jamboree, depicts the spirit and outdoor adventure of Scouting. In conjunction with the stamp's debut, the BSA is conducting a nationwide campaign encouraging Scouts to send letters and care packages to veterans and military men and women overseas, to remind them of our support and gratitude for their service. There are countless ways to add to a letter-writing or care package activity into existing Scouting events. Visit the Celebrate Scouting stamp webpage for more information and resources. Download the new toolkit document to learn how to engage your local post office in this opportunity. |

Cub Scouts from Lake Carmel Pack 1 gathered at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Carmel on Earth Day (April 22) to plant trees as part of a conservation project to mark the Pack’s 50th anniversary. The Scouts practice the policy of Leave No Trace, which teaches scouts to leave only footprints behind and to preserve and protect nature. Lake Carmel Pack 1 is part of the Westchester-Putnam Council of the Boy Scouts of America and sponsored by the Lake Carmel Fire Department. Go to www.lakecarmelpack1.org for more information. New Features all around!! New profile fields so that you can share more about yourself and get to know others in the pack. I have implemented an automatic event reminder system for the site. It is still in its final testing phase so please report any bug. All active members will receive a weekly email with a list of the following weeks items so that you do not miss out on them. they will be delivered every Friday. All Den meetings in th event calendar must follow the new layout. All den meetings must have their subject as such. "Meeting: Den # RANK" You can put anything you want after that. for Example "Meeting: Den 5 Wolves - First Aid Training" This will allow for the den meeting automatic reminder to send to only that den 3 days prior to any of your dens meetings. Leaders will receive the same kind of emails regarding our meetings. As always if you have any ideas to make the site or pack work more efficiently, please pass them on. JM |
