Shifting gears after the Blue & Gold... PDF Print E-mail

Thank you to all who attended and took part in the Blue and Gold. As we say goodbye to our retiring leaders, we will be shifting gears to maintain the program. We will be looking for new volunteers to help out as we prepare for spring and warmer weather. Your help can come in many ways and can range from a small task to registering to be part of the committee.

Here are some opportunities to help out.
The web site will be updated with this information in the coming days.

Pack Secretary. We need someone to help make sure we do not forget about anything as time goes on. Help to document discussions at our monthly committee meeting (1 hour per month) and also help in adding information to our web site. You do not have to be a computer expert to upload to our website. I have designed it to function in a user friendly way to make the process easy and convenient.

BALOO Training, or Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation is available April 4 and June 20th. The BSA requires that the pack have a BALOO trained adult (who does not need to be a leader) in EVERY separate group at outdoor events. What that means is when we go somewhere and split up, each group will need a BALOO trained person. As an added precaution there should be 2. (in case of an emergency splitting due to injury or similar) With our schedules varying, having more adults with this training helps to ensure that we can have the leadership needed for insurance purposes.

University of Scouting.
Did you want to learn more about scouting? You can attend on March 28th. Learn skills, ideas, songs, and other helpful hints to prepare you for whatever comes your way. I went last yea and it was very informative. There are lots of course offerings to choose from. Pick from what is interesting to you. More info available on our council website. http://wpcbsa.org/Training/UniversityScouting.asp

Help plan or take charge of an upcoming event. Event Chairperson responsibilities include, making arrangements with 3rd parties on behalf of the pack, filing paperwork and keeping track of event attendance. Of course you do not do it alone, but rather you are the contact person to help out the rest of the committee. Don't want to be the chairperson? Committee members welcome also. Here are some of the upcoming events that we are planning or trying to plan that need your input and help.
Earth Day Service Project - Plant a Tree
Indoor overnight Camping Activities
Spring Recruitment. Help the pack grow!
Memorial Day Ceremonies
Cub Family Camping - Durland Scout Reservation - Jones Cabin
Summer Program Planning
Pack Family Barbecue
Summer Camp
Got an idea of an activity? Help us plan it? We welcome all new ideas.

Let me know what you can do to help. Whether big or small. Lets work together to keep improving the great program that Lake Carmel Pack 1 provides.
